Auxiliary devices in co-rotating twin screw technology

The working principle of tightly intermeshing co-rotating twin screws has also proved successful for decades in auxiliary devices. Twin screw auxiliary devices designed according to the "Erdmenger" profile help to increase the productivity, throughput and reliability of compounding lines.

Our side feeders are available, both matched to almost every type of twin screw extruder and as an accessory for our RingExtruder.

The devices of the DSB SF series ensure safe conveying of materials such as filler, additives or fibres in either powder or pellet. The tightly intermeshing co-rotating screws are largely self-cleaning and have an improved conveying behaviour due to forced conveying in the intermeshing section.

Our devices have already proved their reliability in continuous operation over a number of years. A wide variety of materials and additional features are available, such as agitators, cooling shells, etc. The DSB SF series is designed in modular units.

Side feeders are used for the following reasons:

  • Reduction of wear costs in the melting section of the main extruder
  • More gentle processing of additives
  • Increase in throughput
  • Increase in quality
  • Elimination of premix costs



Special auxiliary devices

Based on our side feeding and stuffer series, we also deliver co-rotating auxiliary devices for special applications, e.g.:

  • Side feeders with special frames for the optimization of product changeover times.
  • Twin shaft stuffing screws for improved charging of extruders from the top.
  • Devices for the separation of solid and liquid phases.
  • Devices for the venting and/or degassing of products during the filling process.

Technical data

Our DSB SF side feeder series starts at a diameter of 24 mm and is available up to a diameter of 160 mm. The side feeders can be tailored individually to your requirements with regard to delivery rate, space ratios and the connection dimensions of your twin screw feed barrel.

The table above contains the necessary opening dimensions for connecting to the main extruder. A differentiation is essentially made here between a round and rectangular opening. We will be happy to advise you on the technical configuration of your side feeder and on the right solution for your application.
